software engineer · backend

My name is Daniel Sousa.

I build reliable backend systems and data-heavy platforms — turning messy operational problems into measurable wins. Currently engineering at one of Brazil's largest pharmacy retailers.

/ About me

001 — 005

I'm a backend-leaning software engineer who enjoys working at the seam between legacy systems and modern architecture. Most of my day-to-day is .NET, C# and SQL Server — with TypeScript on the front when the situation calls for it.

My favourite problems are the ones that look small from outside but cost a team real hours every week: a stock report that takes two hours to run, a manual process that doesn't scale, a legacy module nobody wants to touch. I like unpicking those and shipping something predictable in their place.

Right now I'm deepening my work in Software Architecture through a postgraduate program at Full Cycle — DDD, microservices, observability and the kind of system design that lets a team move without breaking things.

Farmácias Pague Menos

Software engineer on the Loss Prevention squad — improving operational efficiency for stores and the Distribution Center, reducing costs and sharpening the experience for the end customer.

  • Refactored the Remanejamento system, optimizing how excess stock flows between stores to maximize sell-through.
  • Built the Event Classification feature, a rules-based engine that picks the best return path for products and protects revenue in critical scenarios.
  • Performance overhaul of the legacy VB.NET Inventory system — report generation went from hours to minutes, drastically reducing support friction.
  • Maintained and evolved several essential systems for the Loss Prevention domain, with a focus on security, scalability and operational efficiency.
